On 1st April this year, Cornwall County Council and the six District Councils were replaced by a single unitary council. The newly named Cornwall Council came to us to design, manufacture and install new exterior signage for their council offices and One Stop Shops throughout the county. Designed in the council's brand new corporate style, the signs play an important role in introducing the public to its new council.
The challenge began when we won the tender for the new unitary council in November 2008. Contract Signs liaised closely with the design and brand identity team at Cornwall Council to ensure that all signs manufactured portrayed a strong corporate image and maintained consistency. This would enable them to be quickly and easily recognised by members of the public as the official signs of the new ‘Cornwall Council’ and ensure that the new council struck off on the right foot with a strong, clear identity.
Once the new One Stop Shop and council sites had been identified and the new signage designed, the mammoth task of manufacturing the signs began. We were more than equipped with a strong, skilled manufacturing team and state of the art equipment. As a result, the production line flowed flawlessly with all the signs manufactured within the tight deadline. It was then down to our experienced fitters to ensure all the signs were fitted before the pending launch of the brand on 1st April. Although it at first looked like a logistical headache, the skills and experience of the fitting teams came into their own as the project was completed on schedule.
